To meet the EU’s energy and climate targets for 2030, EU member states need to submit their 10-year National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) for 2021 to 2030 by the end of December.

Baringa analysed hundreds of pages of draft NECPs and proposed energy transition measures of 14 EU countries (Czech Republic, France, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, and Spain) where coal features heavily in the energy mix, and subsequently explored Bulgaria’s planned transition from coal to more carbon neutral energy sources.

Read the snapshot country reports and an overview of the different measures in our report, and contact us if you are interested in the detailed analysis for individual countries.
