But for those firms who dare to lead the pack, there are also great opportunities to not only fund the companies driving positive change, but to deliver returns too."

In detail:
With a degree in Chemistry, and a masters in IT systems under his belt, David started his career in IT consulting before taking on a business analysis role in the automotive industry. He later joined a metals trading business in the City which was growing rapidly with acquisitions. Here David cut his teeth on operating models and process management, aligning acquisitions within the broader business, and built expertise in commodities markets and trading. David joined Baringa in 2014 and is a leader in our energy and commodity trading practice.
David specialises in energy and commodity trading, working with clients across Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. He leads businesses trading bulk physical commodities – oil and gas firms, metals and mining companies, commodities houses and investment banks - through large scale business and technology transformation projects. He also runs energy transition programmes, preparing clients for both the risks a low carbon future poses to their business, and the opportunities. These programmes involve huge change, impacting all aspects of his client’s businesses, from operating models to systems, data processes, internal communications and incentives. No matter the challenges, David’s on hand to guide his clients through them.
A self-confessed trading geek, David and his team get under the skin of their client’s problems to understand their business from as many angles as possible. His deep knowledge in bulk physical trading allows him to deliver the transformation his client’s need to adapt to the energy transition. An industry veteran, he communicates in ways that resonate with clients, tackling tough conversations frankly to reach solutions quickly. He leads with empathy, empowering those he works with, and builds tight-knit relationships with clients that develop over years.
David lives in London with his wife and two children. A keen swimmer, his children have picked up the sport too, and he spends many weekends supporting them at galas. He still enjoys an open water swim himself and loves keeping up with sports, especially rugby and American football. He gets away to warmer climes with his family when he can, but closer to home they love trips to Cornwall along the River Fowey.
