With Baringa since
Operational excellence, strategic operating models and cost optimisation
Shanghai for the food and the endless sense of opportunity
Graduating in geography & geology, Rob considered a career in oil and gas before leaping at the chance to move to Shanghai to help Thames Water win new work in the region. Moving into consulting, Rob held senior Operational Strategy advisory roles for large global organisations such as BP and Unilever. Learning through all this time, Rob discovered his passion for making businesses operate better - optimising costs, improving processes, and building sustainable cost cultures. Rob joined Baringa in 2012 to set up a process transformation team and now leads our operations and organisational transformation business unit.
Rob is driven by achieving a step change in operational performance for his clients. He was instrumental in the creation of 3D, Baringa’s immersive operational excellence approach and has co-authored a recent book “The 3D Workplace” on the subject. Rob leads operational transformation programmes that deliver sustainable change by combining a data led approach with organisational psychology methods. His clients could be looking to become more efficient, to adopt more effective operating models or reduce operating costs. When it’s a question of instilling a mindset shift throughout a business, Rob works with everyone from executive teams down to customer facing departments to ensure this sticks.
Rob is a qualified executive coach and natural people person, with an inclusive and empathic style. He respects the ideas, and experiences of others, wherever in the organisation they sit, believing that everyone has the potential to be brilliant. He’s always looking to add real value, delivering tangible benefits, reducing waste, and developing the people he works with. A deep technical expert, Rob can put his finger on his client’s challenges quickly, helping them to articulate goals and set out plans for the journey to reach them.
Rob is married with a young son who keeps him and his wife on their toes. A keen cook and consummate host, he loves laying on large meals for friends and family and putting his new oven to delicious use. A lapsed road cyclist, he’s hoping to soon find the time to get back in the saddle - until then his walking boots get the most wear.
