Covid-19: Government and public sector

Dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, and softening the impending recession is a peacetime challenge for governments around the world like never seen before. Whilst drawing up measures to protect frontline workers and dealing with staff shortages due to illness and self-isolation, demands from citizens have reached unprecedented levels. Healthcare, schooling, security, benefits – none of these provisions can be allowed to falter without threatening the DNA of our society.

Whilst a number of departments are adjusting to the ‘new normal’, others are still in crisis-management mode. Doubtless, Covid-19 has accelerated agility, automation and digitalisation across departments, and we have seen changes implemented that were believed to be insurmountable only a few months ago. Maintaining this momentum in a post-Covid world will change the government and public sector for good in the long term.
