Baringa Partners are delighted to see that Ørsted has entered into an agreement regarding the sale of a 50% stake in the Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm to the Norges Bank Investment Management fund, one of world's largest institutional investors. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
Borssele 1 & 2 constitute the largest operational offshore wind farm in the Netherlands - and the second-largest operational offshore wind farm in the world - with an installed capacity of 752 MW. It is located 23 km off the coast of the Dutch region of Zeeland at water depths ranging from 14 m to 36 m, and generates enough power to annually cover one million households with green energy in the Netherlands.
Supporting our client Ørsted in the realisation of this disinvestment through our work as Sell Side Market Advisers is a proud achievement for Baringa. We also extend our congratulations to Norges Bank Investment Management on this transaction.
Baringa’s role on supporting the sale has included:
- the provision of continous market advice
- price projections for the Dutch power market, and
- and the creation of a comprehensive, industry leading sell-side market report.
Simon Tywuschik, Leading Continental Europe Power Market expert – Energy & Resources at Baringa Partners said “We are very proud to have assisted Ørsted, the market leader in offshore wind, in the successful partial divestment of Brossele Offshore wind park, and congratulate Norges Bank Investment Management on this transaction. The continental power markets such as the Netherlands, Germany or Poland remain an attractive destination for offshore wind investments and the continued growth in offshore wind capacity will play an important role in facilitating the decarbonisation of these economies.
At Baringa Partners, we are deeply committed to these markets with a mix of local market experts, our pan-European electricity market modelling capability, and our commercial insights helping asset owner and route-to-market operators to optimise their returns".
