Baris Ertan leads Baringa’s US Energy and Resources practice, bringing deep expertise across energy trading, commercial operations, and risk management in oil, natural gas, LNG, power, and environmental markets.
Over his career, Baris has advised energy companies, utilities, and financial institutions on large-scale business and technology transformation programs. He specializes in helping clients build and optimize trading organizations—aligning people, processes, and technology to support growth, manage risk, and improve commercial performance. Whether entering new markets, launching new business models, or transforming existing operations, Baris helps clients evolve with confidence and clarity.
Notable engagements include guiding a global oil major through the development of advanced trading and data capabilities to support its global trading ambitions and partnering with a renewable developer to stand up merchant trading and portfolio optimization capabilities as their business matured.
Baris brings a hands-on, collaborative approach grounded in real-world delivery. He takes the time to understand each client’s unique challenges, then co-develops actionable solutions that drive results. His ability to build trust and deliver value over time has earned him long-standing relationships with clients – even as they’ve moved across roles and organizations.
Outside of work, Baris is driven by the same values he brings to his clients—teamwork, discipline, and continuous growth. A lifelong athlete and team sports enthusiast, he especially enjoys basketball and has found joy coaching his kids in their sports journeys. He spends his free time exploring the Texas outdoors, often hunting, fishing, boating or enjoying a round of golf.
