Delivering millions in productivity gains through AI adoption

How can government departments use AI to transform how they work?
Our client, a central government department, faced challenges in adopting AI into its operations. While there were pockets of experimentation, there wasn’t a clear understanding of how to scale AI across the organisation. Without a clear strategy, the department risked missing opportunities to maximise investment potential in, and societal value from AI.
We provided practical support to accelerate adoption, from discovery to implementation
In partnership with the department we mapped out existing instances instance of AI usage, identifying blockers to adoption, capability gaps and critical enablers based on global best practice. We delivered tools and frameworks for identifying, prioritising and piloting use case; building implementation roadmaps for the highest priority instances based on in-depth consideration of user requirements and associated investment cases ahead of Spending Review 2025.
We rolled out Copilot 365 licences to 3,600 staff, coordinated training, data management and security considerations; and rapidly developed proof of concepts to automate workflow for a major correspondence team.
Repositioning AI from isolated experimentation to a core enabler
We enabled the department to make better use of over 50 AI and automation tools already in place, saving time and money, while improving staff efficiency – identifying potential workforce productivity benefits worth up to £40 million. We provided the department with its first complete view of AI usage, the ability to scale adoption strategically and a clearer vision of how AI could play a key role in driving transformation.
