Tom heads up Baringa’s US energy market advisory practice. He advises investors and energy infrastructure developers on North American power and gas markets.
Tom operates at the intersection of energy and financial markets, guiding investors through complex deals with the right combination of market expertise and fit-for-purpose analysis. His team has advised on over 25GW of transactions in the US, spanning renewables, battery storage, gas generation, electricity transmission, and gas infrastructure. For Tom, it’s all about empowering clients to understand the complexities of what they’re investing in, so that they have the market knowledge and analytical firepower to make decisions with confidence.
Prior to Baringa, Tom honed his energy system expertise at Ofgem, the UK’s energy regulator, where he focused on electricity market design in the UK and Europe, and electricity resiliency issues. To this industry experience, he adds qualifications in energy regulation, economics, environmental technology, and oceanography.
Away from the detailed nuances of market models, Tom prefers to pursue hands-on hobbies. He’s a keen DIY mechanic with a passion for restoring classic cars. He also enjoys fishing with his two young sons and perfecting the art of slow-smoked BBQ at home in New Jersey.
