Sören joined Baringa in 2024 as a Director in the Energy and Resources practice. He helps trading businesses develop the capabilities they need to perform - with a particular focus on trading-technology teams and how they connect to the business and the back office. In practice, that means redesigning operating models, capability models and the trading IT architecture beneath them, so that technology stops being the reason things move slowly.
What sets Sören apart is range built on depth. He spent more than a decade running these functions in industry before he advised on them. He designed and brought to life an operating model serving over 1,400 people, built a trading business from scratch in the US, and led the response to a major ransomware attack. Alongside carve-outs, post-merger integrations and end-to-end ETRM and risk-platform implementations, he has been the client buying advice from the big strategy firms - and now sits on the other side of that table.
He stands for getting the problem right before the fix. As an engineer, he began his career in lean process optimisation and business process management, and works across the whole chain - strategy, value chains, processes, capabilities, technology and data - rather than any single slice of it. As graduate of the University of Cambridge Judge Business School, he is convinced that strategy, technology and culture only work when they move together. Clients value his straight counsel: a clear story, no jargon, and the honesty to say what isn’t working.
Based in Hamburg, Sören is a father of two and a Küstenkind who has lived by the sea all his life. He is happiest outdoors - in another life, he says, he’d be in the wild tracking animals rather than operating models.
