In detail:
Sam has nearly 20 years of experience in the commodities trading space. He loves thinking about the future of commodities trading and the role of technology and tools in shaping that future.
He is an expert in how commodities trading businesses operate, how they generate revenue, the risks they manage and the nuances of specific commodity classes. At the same time, he also has a broad understanding of modern technology and the tools available the commodities trading domain. Sam advises clients by combining these areas of expertise, helping them navigate change in the context of future business drivers and technology trends.
Sam is an engineer by trade and genuinely enjoys figuring out how things work as part of solving client problems. His style is naturally curious, and he takes a hands-on approach with clients and teams. He loves to teach and can often be found at a whiteboard explaining the finer points of the commodities trading world.
One of Sam’s passions is understanding the commodity fintech vendor marketplace. He has a deep knowledge of market-leading systems and is comitted to staying abreast of developments, spotting new and exciting tools early in their sales cycle.
Sam moved to Singapore in 2018 to help set up Baringa’s office and has been based there ever since. Outside of work, he is dad to two energetic children and, in recent years, has found a real passion for running.
