Mike joined Baringa’s Transport practice in January 2023, bringing over a decade of experience in the UK rail sector. With a proven track record in leading strategic transformation, Mike specialises in delivering complex programmes that balance commercial growth with enhanced customer experience.
At Baringa, Mike leads the Rail team, and has worked with Network Rail, Train Operating Companies and the Department For Transport Operator. He supported Network Rail on a £50m+ technology transformation project. Acting as the on-shore liaison between Baringa’s near-shore PMO, UK delivery teams, and third-party partners, Mike ensured seamless programme delivery, robust financial oversight, and proactive risk management. His expertise extends to supporting senior stakeholders in central government, guiding them through governance and the implementation of new Target Operating Models.
Previously, Mike held pivotal roles at Chiltern Railways and South Western Railway, where he defined and delivered commercial strategies, negotiated with the Department for Transport, and managed teams to implement business-critical projects. His leadership in process review and improvement resulted in streamlined project delivery, stronger governance, and alignment with strategic priorities.
Mike’s collaborative approach has seen him work closely with suppliers, government bodies, and industry partners to deliver multi-million-pound initiatives - from car park technology deployments to on-train Wi-Fi enhancements. He is adept at navigating the complexities of government procurement, having led and supported multiple rail franchise bids that delivered service improvements and value for money.
