In detail:
Michael joined Baringa in September 2026, having been at IBM for 16 years which he joined as a Philosophy graduate from the University of Nottingham in 2010.
His area of professional focus is the application of AI at enterprise scale in the Financial Services sector, having established a world leading AI consulting team at IBM. Michael coined the term “Conversational Banking” in 2017 and he and his teams were responsible for the majority of AI assisted transformations in UK banking digital front offices.
He believes that brilliant human skill and depth of domain knowledge in the age of abundant intelligence will be the key in this new era. He is therefore passionate about building teams that are intellectually curious, determined and driven to create amazing outcomes for clients.
Michael is often a keynote speaker at major conferences as well as a guest on industry podcasts. He is regularly quoted in the media such as the Financial Times, The Times and Sky News.
He is a certified Management Consultant (CMC) and holds a Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He lives in London with his wife and four young children.
