In detail:
Liam has spent the last 12 years working with teams in education, government, financial services and energy organisations to help them improve processes and the way that teams function. Some of his most interesting projects have included working in one of the UKs largest and most prestigious universities to align their finance processes across the different departments and divisions, working on some really impactful and high profile projects at the UK Home Office and leading end-to-end process redesign across the UKs largest energy provider. In all these projects, he has worked alongside the client teams and practitioners to both make improvements in the business and build capability amongst the client team.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Liam worked in the SME/Financial Services industry so has hands on experience of what its like to work in an operational environment and all the challenges that come along with those roles. A highlight of his time in this role was setting up an offshore office in South Africa when the organisation outgrew its London operations capacity. This involved everything from how the operating model would look to hiring and training the offshore team – the trips to Cape Town were a bonus!
Aside from client work, Liam leads the ‘Grow Careers’ pillar in the Operational and Process Excellence team, which focuses on learning and development activities, career paths and mapping and manager excellence to ensure that everyone in the team, particularly junior members, can make the most out of the career opportunities that Baringa provides. Liam is passionate about personal development and seeing others reach their potential. He loves the people side of this role.
Liam is known for being friendly and approachable, with a very collaborative approach and the teams he has working in and led always praise his ability to create a working environment in which everyone feels they are achieving what they need to.
Liam is married to Janet and is the Dad of two children. He loves dragging them all along on hikes in the Chiltern Hills where he lives (they do love it though - promise) and in Wales which they try and visit at least once a year. He is also an avid cricket and rugby fan and occasional golfer - and would happily have played cricket for a living had he had he been able to!
