James began his career at BT over 20 years ago, starting his career at BT and subsequently moving into consulting. James joined Baringa in 2015 to shape and grow our telco, media and technology team. James has worked across the full scope of consulting disciplines including process excellence, change management, programme delivery and portfolio management. Today he’s an expert in large scale business transformation working across telco,, retail and the music industry.
He thrives on the challenge of solving his client’s hardest problems. strategic planning and complex business transformation projects are perennial favourites. He’s run projects to migrate communication networks, and optimise business operations for clients including BT, VM02, PPL and Currys. James and his team have led programmes to deliver industry shaping joint ventures and mergers in music licensing and telecoms. His recent focus is the area of Networks, including the roll-out of fibre to the home and optimising the Network Function more widely.
At every stage of any project, James is all over the detail, while also keeping the broader objectives fully under control. He identifies likely issues and shapes innovative solutions. He’s equally likely to be presenting in the boardroom as he is leading programme reviews with the team. Passionate about teamwork, he draws out the best in those he works with, balancing delegation with ownership, leadership with collaboration. Driven by his client’s success, personally and commercially, James brings the energy and motivation needed to rally stakeholders and get long, multi-year programmes across the finish line.
A father of two, James loves spending time with his family – riding bikes, taking family trips away and enjoying sports together. He’s a keen tennis player and can be found most weekends on the receiving end of a few serves.
