In detail:
Hannah’s passion for the public sector is so palpable that it’s hard to imagine she once considered a career elsewhere. Her original plan was to start at a Big Four consultancy then work in industry. But early on, Hannah got pulled into public sector consulting, and those well-laid plans were quickly put aside.
The appeal of helping guide government strategy and policy was infectious. Here, Hannah had the chance to marry her practical economics skills with genuinely purposeful work. She’s spent close to a decade honing that expertise, and now applies it to advise government clients on complex spending decisions and business cases – ensuring that taxpayer money is put to best use.
Hannah and her team at Baringa are often the first port of call for new public sector initiatives, helping clients with early-stage strategy. A recent project involved shaping a business case for orchestrating large-scale investments involving multiple government departments. The team looked at how investing in different areas – from building housing to upgrading railways – might impact each other, and how government could co-ordinate to get the best value out of that investment.
In her work, Hannah has always prioritised putting people first. It reflects in the deep relationships she builds with both clients and her team, and her drive to foster better public services for all citizens. Hannah finds it immensely rewarding to get to know the people she works with on a personal level, understanding their motivations and making best use of their unique talents.
This love for human connection carries over into Hannah’s home life, where she’s big on building community. For her and her husband, there’s nothing better than gathering a group of friends around the dining room table to enjoy home-made food and equally nourishing conversation.
