Christian calculated King Charles’s first ever carbon footprint in an earlier role

In detail: 

After studying business at university in France and his native Germany, Christian joined a large global investment bank in London to work in their derivatives business. When a chance arose to join the bank’s Tokyo team, he leapt at it, hungry for the opportunity to learn about a new market and culture. After a four-year stint in Japan, Christian returned to Europe, joining Baringa as our first employee in Germany in 2011. Using his expertise in trading, Christian ran programmes for commodities houses, banks and utilities firms across Europe, the UK and US. In 2018, Christian returned to Asia to start our Singapore hub, where he is still based, leading our business in the region. 
    
Christian advises clients on their most complex trading projects. From setting up new trading desks for large physical commodity players, utilities or mining companies, designing new IT architecture, or advising on risk management practices, Christian works with his clients to position them for success. When he’s not tackling trading challenges, he’s advising financial services, energy and resources clients on how to manage climate change risks and how to lead their industry’s energy transition. As Asia-Pacific economies grow, Christian sees great opportunities to guide our clients in the region past the pitfalls and onto the opportunities on the path to net-zero. 

Christian is an entrepreneurial and energetic leader with an infectious can-do attitude. Having lived and worked in eight countries, he’s at home running diverse, international teams. He leads by example and with empathy, bringing a collaborative approach to the projects he manages. Immensely knowledgeable in his field, Christian’s clients rely on him for frank and pragmatic advice. A lifelong learner, initially drawn to consulting for its variety, Christian thrives on new challenges and finding how to bring Baringa’s expertise to clients in the region. 

Christian lives in Singapore with his wife, who he met while working overseas, and their two children. His time in Tokyo turned him into a huge fan of Japanese cuisine, and he now finds himself collecting kitchen gadgetry - some of which gets used! His go-to dishes are home comfort classics – Nikujaga stew, or soul foods like Oyakodon. When family time allows, he also loves learning new languages, and exploring food from all over the globe.
