I think I’ve followed a fairly straight path to get to where I am now. I studied Computer Science at university after developing an interest in technology at school and at home, with my sister also being a keen tech enthusiast! Immediately after university, I joined a Technology Graduate Programme in a retail bank as an IT Project Manager working in Payments. I worked with some brilliant people but wanted to try somewhere new before I committed to staying there long haul and spent a few years as an independent IT contractor working across other Financial Services organisations. I soon realised that I enjoyed the flexibility and taking up new challenges but was also keen to develop my skills in a company which genuinely takes care of its people, which led me to apply to Baringa.
I joined in August 2014 as the first female Manager in the Technology Transformation team. To me, it’s important to work with talented and diverse people, and Baringa has exactly that. There is so much variety in the skills, experience and expertise that people have to offer here, and it’s one of the reasons that makes me feel so proud to work for this company. Baringa’s reputation continues to attract the most talented people out there so we can continue to thrive off each other and offer the best to our clients.
My area of expertise is in managing complex technology-enabled change delivery, which has seen me in a variety of leadership roles largely within the Financial Services industry but also within Retail energy and Telco & Media. It’s exciting to work hand-in-hand with my colleagues and our clients on innovative ways to solve problems, and even more exciting that we all contribute in making a difference, regardless of level. We don’t follow run-of-the-mill practices, we put our heads together to think about what would be best for the client; all of our individual ideas count.
Aside from the positive difference we make to our clients, there is a real opportunity for us all to do the same for Baringa. I’m involved in developing an internal delivery and assurance capability within Technology Transformation, and along with many others, am actively involved in initiatives to encourage diversity, particularly of the gender form, to our team. I love that Baringa genuinely cares about its people and its clients, and that’s one of the reasons which makes it a great place to work
