In detail:
Stephen discovered a passion for government consulting when he helped set up the commercial function at the National Health Service (NHS) Test and Trace at the start of the pandemic. As a deputy director, he managed a team of 30 and a budget of £2 billion. This experience prompted him to move to Baringa’s government practice full-time, where he’s helped grow the business and expand the team. Since then, his highlights have been supporting the NHS with the Covid-19 vaccine programme, and helping set up a new portfolio management function following a large merger.
Stephen focuses on empowering, coaching and facilitating within his teams. He does his utmost to make sure everyone on his team can work productively. He’s very good at building close relationships with his clients – and he won’t rest until their needs are met.
Stephen has always been driven by a desire to do worthwhile work that has a meaningful impact on some of society’s biggest issues. This ambition has taken him in various directions over the course of his career – including a stint as a consultant helping financial services clients strengthen regulatory compliance and find better ways to serve customers.
Both Stephen and his partner work four days a week so they can spend more time with their toddler. Stephen’s also very involved with his local church, and he helps lead the Baringa Christian Network as part of the Interfaith Network. His favourite place is Southwold on the Suffolk coast, because it combines the seaside, Latitude Festival, the Adnams Brewery and Minsmere nature reserve.
