In detail:

Jonathan provides commercially-focused technical insights for clients in energy and resources. Especially where business-plan inputs such as capex, opex, and operational performance metrics are important value-drivers in an investment decision. 

As a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Jonathan started his career in the UK water sector – helping utilities to deliver their capital programs efficiently, before transitioning into a role advising investors and lenders, considering investing in infrastructure. His global clients are infrastructure funds, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds, he provides support to them on major M&A transactions (buy-side and sell-side roles). In this capacity, he has advised on more than USD$85 billion of transactions that reached financial close, covering renewables, power, energy, transport, environment and digital infrastructure.    

The most memorable transaction? There are too many to mention, says Jonathan, but site visits are generally the more enjoyable parts of a deal: meeting the developers and operators of the infrastructure and meeting our clients face-to-face is always a nice thing to do.  

Before joining Baringa, Jonathan spent a few years in New York City, helping to expand an existing transaction advisory consulting business. Whilst there, he (slowly) ran the New York City Marathon, ‘survived’ the COVID-19 pandemic, before returning to Europe with his family in 2023.  

When not working, Jonathan has his hands-full with two young children (and a grown-up son).
