Financial services and technology transformation programmes

Best piece of advice he’s received
“Never worry about asking for help.”

In detail:

Andy began his career in technology project management at Hewlett Packard before moving into consultancy to focus on financial services programmes. With his next role, at a large financial institution, he combined the two disciplines to run major change programmes before joining Baringa in 2008. Since then, Andy’s been responsible for managing and delivering large-scale, business critical programmes for clients across insurance, banking and capital markets. As the boundaries between finance and technology blur, Andy’s expertise in both fields has helped him to keep his client programmes at the cutting edge, and he now heads our technology transformation team.

Andy runs complex transformation programmes for clients, involving fundamental change across many functions, from finance to treasury, compliance and IT to technology. He’s often under tight, immovable deadlines from regulators. Andy thrives under this pressure; it galvanises him and his teams to find the necessary solutions to client challenges. Andy focuses on finding the most efficient, cost effective and transparent ways to deliver the change programmes his clients need.

Andy loves creating high performance teams, bringing together the best of Baringa and client teams to grow together. His projects can last for years, so he’s always on the lookout for ways he can mentor and coach those he’s working with as the programme evolves. He recognises that solving his client’s toughest problems calls for teams of people with different approaches to challenges. Working together they can tease out the right answers for the client. Andy sees his role as a facilitator for his teams, guiding them in the right direction, but empowering individuals to be bold and do their best work.

Andy lives in Surrey with his wife Linzi and their three children – who keep them both very busy and active. In his spare time he has a passion for martial arts and boxing, though these days he’s more active as a keen spectator than as a competitor.
