"The energy market has become increasingly volatile in the last few years, and this is creating risks and opportunities. Investors and industry players need to rethink their approaches – whether that’s crafting a new business strategy or designing new products to manage risks and navigate increased uncertainty."

In detail:

Anne likes tangible things and tricky problems. That’s what led her to study engineering at university. And it’s also what originally motivated her to move from heavy industry operations to specialise in energy markets. She enjoyed stomping around factories in a hard hat and steel-cap boots, but was inspired to focus on energy to tackle one of the trickiest problems around – climate change.

In her work, Anne applies her skills in commercial structuring and quantitative analysis to the energy market. Her work spans the energy value chain. She helps clients navigate risks and opportunities as they tackle challenging strategic and commercial issues in buying and selling energy. She also supports large energy consumers’ efforts to reduce emissions. And she helps developers of hydrogen facilities commercially optimise their plant designs and how they buy and sell power. Through this, she helps clients to dismantle some of the biggest barriers to decarbonisation.

People describe Anne as ‘refreshingly non-consultanty’. This refers to her relatively informal style – she hates jargon, and talking to her feels like talking to a trusted colleague or friend. It also reflects the way she takes a client’s problem and makes it her own – and she isn’t happy until she’s fixed it. This is why people like to bring Anne in for intellectual sparring and getting to the root of a problem.

Anne is based in Sydney, and her career has straddled the UK and Australia. But she’s also ventured much further afield. She’s worked in Europe and Asia Pacific, with projects in Latin America and southern Africa in between. In her spare time, she loves travelling in South America, through which she’s gained fluent Spanish as well as some amusing anecdotes.

When Anne’s not busy driving the energy transition, you’ll find her outside hiking, surfing or getting as far into the wilderness as possible. One day, she’d like to retire and open an arts and crafts shop by the sea – which isn’t surprising given her love of tangible things.
