International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on 8 March each year in more than 100 countries around the world. It is a day to reflect on and celebrate the social, political, academic, economic and cultural achievements of women.

It also marks a day for acknowledging the challenges faced by women and is a call to action to continue to press for gender parity. This year’s theme for IWD is #InspireInclusion

"When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment."

What does it mean to be truly gender inclusive?

The #InspireInclusion theme encourages us to celebrate diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society and take action to further this.

Central to this year’s theme is thinking about inclusion through the lens of intersectionality. Many women face exclusion on multiple fronts, and what may support the inclusion of some women may not be inclusive for others. The theme challenges us to question when women aren’t present, “why not?”

At Baringa, inspiring inclusion is at the heart of our mission, and we are fully committed to making a meaningful global impact on the challenges faced by women today. A few examples include:

We strive to create a safe and inclusive environment and, as part of our commitment, we are proud to be the first consultancy/professional services firm to receive a White Ribbon Accreditation (for two years running now). We have concrete action plan and champions across the business. This accreditation signifies our dedication to fostering a secure space for all.

We actively engage in allyship initiatives and have forged partnerships, such as with our charity partner Choose Love, to support women refugees. At Baringa, we understand that our responsibility extends beyond words, and we take concrete actions to empower and uplift women worldwide.

Our #InspireInclusion pledges

To celebrate IWD 2024, Baringa employees are making their own personal pledges on how they will take action to inspire inclusion in their personal and professional lives. We have created Baringa's Wall of Pledges to highlight some of the steps we are taking to create an inclusive workplace and world.

Our colleagues are committing to take action not just on International Women’s Day but beyond. Because when we all reflect on how we can take action, collectively we can forge a more inclusive world.
