Economic advisory

We combine a sound understanding of economic theory with detailed knowledge of regulation and markets in which our clients operate.  We use this skill set to support companies, investors, regulators, and governments on a wide range of issues, including regulation, policy, and market design, as well as providing expert witness support in commercial and regulatory disputes.

To support our clients, we apply a range of quantitative techniques, and present our arguments in a clear and compelling manner for non-specialist as well as expert audiences.

Our understanding of economic regulation and our broader commercial and operational advisory capabilities enable us to help our clients navigate the complex landscape within which they operate and make meaningful contributions to key regulatory and policy discussions, whether these be with government, industry, or regulators.

Focus on your sector

Regulatory strategy

Sector regulators have shown an increasing willingness to intervene to improve market outcomes for consumers. We help our clients to navigate a complex regulatory landscape, providing guidance to utilities subject to price control regulation and businesses facing regulation of their retail and wholesale activities.

Impact assessment and consultation support

We provide our clients with evidence-based recommendations and support in consultation processes. By applying our knowledge of economic theory and robust quantitative techniques, we help our clients to influence debate in the regulatory and policy arena and to shape the environment within which they operate.

Commercial and regulatory disputes

We provide expert witness evidence and support for every stage of proceedings, working seamlessly with legal advisors to help our clients achieve their aims in dispute resolution processes.

Regulatory due diligence

The financial performance of regulated utilities, and the risks around this performance, are significantly driven by the regulatory regimes within which they operate. We help investors to understand the details and direction of travel in regulation in the context of corporate transactions.
