Alex GurrSenior Manager
In July 2007 I joined Baringa Partners into the newly formed Financial Services practice. At the time I was working as a Manager for one of the big 4 and wasn’t really looking for a new job, but the opportunity that Baringa were offering me, to help build a new Financial Services Practice, was just too great to ignore. Two and a half years later I can honestly say it has exceeded all of my expectations.
Baringa is an honest organisation, refreshingly free of politics and bureaucracy, which coming from a much larger organisation was a huge draw. I have had more opportunities here in the last two and a half years than the whole of the rest of my career and have been able to truly take control of my career in the way I want. It is a hugely supportive environment that encourages you to push yourself and to try new things, both from a project delivery and business development perspective.
Since joining Baringa I have worked on fantastic projects across the industry, delivering major business and IT transformation on some of the most high profile projects in the city. The variety of work and exposure to senior clients has been incredible and something I don’t think I would have had access to for a number of years had I stayed where I was.
Alongside my project delivery work I have become heavily involved in Baringa’s recruitment and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity and helped to build the strategy for the Insurance practice, as an area of Financial Services I am hugely passionate about. Opportunities like this are open to anyone who wants to take them on and we do so because we all passionately believe in the company and want to help it develop.
Outside of work, I am a keen biker, who enjoys track-days and Sundays out with friends, but a new addition to the family 13 months ago has meant priorities have changed somewhat and Sundays are now more often spent at the swings than Silverstone.
