Domestic smart metering in the UK comes a step closer

Domestic smart metering in the UK comes a step closer - All homes in Britain will have smart meters installed by 2020 under plans published by the UK government, based on a report written by Baringa Partners and Redpoint Energy.

The report contains the government’s conclusions on a preferred market model for the UK’s smart metering programme, and is based on extensive consultation among stakeholders and a full analysis of three potential market models conducted by Baringa Partners.

The government’s proposal (available from the DECC website) is open for public consultation.
