Baringa publishes its report, supporting the Government's decision to roll-out smart meters.
Baringa’s experience of the UK energy sector along with our knowledge of the business case for smart metering led to us being chosen by DECC to develop the options for the roll-out, and assess these options against a set of key evaluation criteria.
Baringa led the engagement with a broad set of stakeholders – including customers, Ofgem, energy companies, potential service providers as well as DECC itself. This allowed us to ensure all perspectives were considered, which was an important input to the assessment and evaluation process, and helped achieve stakeholder buy-in to the decisions being made.
This decision is an important step towards the goal of rolling out smart meters to all customers, enabling the smart grid, and the broader challenge of decarbonising the energy sector.
